Many of your corporate clients fall into the overworked or overstressed category. They simply can't find (or make) the time to book a table massage and travel to your office. With the on-site convenience of corporate massage, however, your clients have no excuse. Chair or desk massages take as little as five minutes and include no prep or travel time, so your clients don't have to block out an hour or two in their day. They also don't need to plan ahead by booking an appointment a week in advance.
In order to get a massage treatment you must go into a teeny room behind closed doors, take off all your clothes and get onto a massage table while someone you don't know rubs greasy oil all over you. And as if that's not enough, you need to fork over a lot of money for the privilege.
The position of your feet in sitting is important for your overall balance and stability. Ideally they should be firmly placed on the ground, in order to balance the central core region of your body. However, sitting is a dynamic position in activity; your feet should be moving from one position to another. This means moving them from flat on the floor, to hooking them back on to your chair base. This change in the position of your feet transfers the weight of your body firmly back on your pelvic bones. It promotes an increase in circulation of blood, through unrestricted breathing to your lungs and helps to ease discomforts in your back when prolonged sitting.
Being a chiropractor in San Diego, I am often asked by my patients "What is the best ergonomic office chair?" You would be amazed by how many cases of neck pain, back pain and headaches could be relieved completely or at least reduced in frequency and intensity simply by reducing the stress that a poorly designed office chair can cause. I always tell my patients that while your weekend warrior exploits will sprain and strain tight muscles, it is the postural stress that you are exposed to during your 40 plus hours per week of sitting in poorly designed chairs that is the real culprit in your ongoing aches and pains.
